Senior Minister/Spiritual Leader Positive Living Center of Central California, Oakhurst CAThe Positive Living Center of Central California (PLC, Center) is searching for a Senior Minister/Spiritual Leader who will help us to continue to implement our mission statement to "...join together to grow, expanding spiritually, in the conscious awareness and expression of Divine Spirit".
The PLC, located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, is 16 miles from the south gate of Yosemite National Park. In this beautiful, rural setting, Rev. Angelo Pizelo founded the PLC in the 1990's and founded the Emerson Theological Institute as well. Eight years ago, he commissioned the building of a 3000+ sq. ft metal facility that houses meeting rooms, a kitchen, library, and a lovely sanctuary that also serves as an art exhibition space for local artists.
Services are held each Sunday, featuring a rotation of ministers and practitioners speaking on tenets of Religious Science / New Thought topics, and we welcome wisdom from many spiritual traditions, including Buddhism, Judaism, Christian Mysticism, Taoism, Native American teachings and others.
A rotation of local musicians provides performances during each service. The service is also offered on Zoom, which was initiated during the pandemic and continues to this day. Our attendance diminished during the pandemic, but we continue to grow in physical presence, and technology allows us to include attendees who are at a distance. Rev. Angelo Pizelo retired in 2019 and our current Senior Minister, Rev. Sandy West is now also retiring.
The Center is also utilized during the week by a Spiritual Discussion group, Men's group, Women's support group, Chanting group, Labyrinth meditation walks, a monthly meeting of ministers and practitioners, and other activities open to the general community such as a Drum circle and Native American style flute circle. Classes are offered with Emerson Theological Institute credits available, and community concerts, and fund-raising activities are also welcomed.
Our community is small, but growing, and is financially stable. The position of Senior Minister offers a small monthly stipend, and speakers and musicians are given a monetary appreciation.
Senior Minister/Spiritual Leader responsibilities:
To ensure effective and unified operation of the Center, the Senior Minister as Pastor of the Center provides Spiritual leadership and guidance and is an inspiration to our attendees, independent contractors and volunteers. The Senior Minister is responsible for the structure and content of all services, seminars, events and classes of the Center. Along with the Board of Trustees, the Senior Minister fiscally responsibly oversees the maintenance of the physical facility and grounds. As the Chief Executive Officer of the Center, the Senior Minister is responsible for selection of Ministers, Practitioneers, and Teachers, provides direct coordination of their activities, and has the sole authority to define their responsibilities. The Senior Minister reports to the Board of Trustees monthly on the status of interns, classes, volunteers, events and ministerial activities. Of utmost importance, the Senior minister is the embodiment of spiritual love and compassion and offers personal support to our attendees in times of crisis or need.
We are seeking an energetic leader who will inspire spiritual growth, empower the ministerial team, attendees, independent contractors and the Board of Trustees to benefit our community.
If interested, please respond with a cover letter and resume to: Laura Hayth, Board president, at laurahayth@gmail.com, 760-994-3959

Things you might not know about Dallas and the DFW Metroplex
The DFW Metroplex of 8+ million people, is richly diverse, a melting pot of cultures, religions, and lifestyles. 44 languages and 172 nationalities, along with every religion and spirituality are present. CSLDallas is in north Dallas in a very diverse neighborhood right next to the popular and growing city of Addison with its 175 restaurants as well as clubs, comedy, and shopping! The general cost of living is still reasonably low in the area and the diverse economy has withstood the impact of 911, the tech bubble bursting, various financial crises, and the influx of corporate headquarters along with their employees. The most surprising thing about Dallas may be how green it is, with trees and parks and a new Trinity River area that will be the largest urban park including the largest urban forest in the US. Dallas has a rich nightlife, philanthropic heartbeat, and the largest HRC black-tie dinner in America. And, of course, it has all the same problems, social, systemic, and political, as we face throughout our nation.
